The design challenge was to create an engaging, personalized experience that would not only showcase users' past views but also enhance their overall interaction with the platform. Our goal was to transform Netflix into a more personalized, user-centric service. Drawing inspiration from successful trends like Spotify’s "Wrapped" campaign, we set out to design a feature that would resonate deeply with this audience.

To enhance Netflix's user engagement, we started by identifying the lack of personalized features beyond "Top Picks for You." We realized that Gen Z users, who thrive on personalized, trend-driven content, were not fully engaged with the current interface. This demographic expects more than generic recommendations; they want a platform that understands their unique preferences and viewing habits.

Designing Netflix rewind

The "Netflix Rewind" feature was born from a series of prototypes aimed at creating a personalized in-app storyline that celebrates users' viewing habits over the past year. We wanted to offer a unique and engaging experience that not only highlights past views but also generates new, tailored recommendations. The idea was to create a narrative that users would find exciting and worth sharing.

During the prototyping phase, we focused on making the feature visually appealing and interactive. We designed data visualizations to capture user interest and incorporated elements that would make the experience feel personal and memorable. By doing so, we aimed to increase user engagement and satisfaction, ultimately leading to higher retention rates and more time spent on the platform.

A mood board was curated to gather design inspiration from various sources, guaranteeing a modern and captivating "Netflix Rewind" feature. These visual elements were then strategically incorporated into the design, aligning with Gen Z user preferences for an engaging and tailored Netflix Rewind experience.

The animated welcome page captivates users, setting the stage for personalized content exploration. Sections like "Your Oscar Nomination Goes To" showcase custom stats, while "Meet Your Favorite Actor" offers tailored recommendations. The modular dashboard serves as a hub for personalized data, enabling effortless navigation and content discovery.
